In the wake of the controversy surrounding the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the Government of India has taken a significant administrative step. CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh and Secretary Himanshu Gupta have been transferred following growing concerns and questions raised over the OSM process in recent days.
As part of the action, the government has also established a high-level single-member inquiry committee to review the procurement of OSM services and examine the procedures associated with their implementation. The committee will assess whether the process was conducted in accordance with established norms and identify any potential irregularities.
According to official sources, the objective of this inquiry is to ensure transparency, maintain accountability, and conduct an impartial examination of the matter. The government has emphasized its commitment to strengthening administrative oversight and preventing similar issues from arising in the future. The findings of the committee are expected to provide clarity on the concerns raised regarding the OSM system and help improve operational processes within the board.
