Amid shortage of oxygen in hospitals due to increasing cases of corona, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that due to acute shortage of oxygen, there has been a huge shortage of oxygen in Delhi. He told that oxygen has been exhausted in many hospitals in Delhi and it is on the verge of ending in many hospitals. In such a situation, the Delhi government is making efforts to bring oxygen by air from Odisha.
CM Kejriwal thanked the central government and the Delhi High Court for increasing the capital’s quota of oxygen for the treatment of corona patients in Delhi. He said that the conditions in Delhi are very serious. He urged that the Central Government and Haryana Government should allow the vehicles carrying oxygen for Delhi to come smoothly.
In an online press conference, CM Kejriwal said that the bulk of the increased oxygen quota for Delhi is to be supplied from Odisha. The Delhi government is planning to bring oxygen by air to save time in this time of crisis. After this Kejriwal received a call from Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in which he has assured full support to the Delhi government in the supply of oxygen. Kejriwal tweeted that he received a call from Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik. He has assured full support to Delhi in oxygen supply.
Kejriwal said that the daily intake of medical oxygen for Delhi was 378 metric tones, which has been increased to 480 metric tones by the Central Government. The increased amount of oxygen will help in the treatment of corona patients. He said that Delhi needs around 700 metric tones of oxygen daily.
He said that as per the quota set by the Center, oxygen is being supplied from other states, but some states are stopping trucks coming to the national capital. Kejriwal said that it is not right. It is a time of great disaster. We need to unite and fight against it. If we continue to be ‘Indians’, we will definitely defeat Corona. He appealed to the state governments to help each other and promised to send additional oxygen, medicines and doctors for them when the situation was brought under control in Delhi.
