Heavy Rain Disrupts Daily Life Across Several States, Rail and Air Services Affected

National

Persistent heavy rainfall has severely disrupted normal life across several states in India. Maharashtra remains one of the worst-affected regions, where intense showers and landslides have impacted rail, road, and air transportation. Several trains on the Mumbai–Pune railway route were cancelled after a landslide blocked the tracks, while traffic on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway was also affected. In Satara district, a bridge sustained damage due to strong water currents, though stranded tourists were safely rescued by emergency teams. Adverse weather conditions in Mumbai also led to the cancellation of multiple flights. As a precautionary measure, authorities have ordered the closure of schools and colleges and urged residents to leave their homes only when absolutely necessary.
