New Delhi. The Indian Medical Association has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue of violence with doctors and rhetoric regarding the vaccine. In this letter, the IMA has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure a fear-free environment for doctors to work. In the letter, the IMA has appealed to PM Modi that if any person spreads confusion regarding the vaccination campaign, he should be punished under the Epidemic Act or relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Apart from this, if a health worker is attacked on duty, if there is violence, then there should be a provision of imprisonment for 10 years and the doctors who have lost their lives during corona duty should be given the status of ‘Kovid Martyr’. The government should take care of his family. In the letter, the IMA has written, ‘From the first day during the corona epidemic, the entire health sector is engaged in fighting this virus. So far more than 1400 health workers have lost their lives due to this epidemic. Vaccination is saving thousands of people from falling prey to corona but we are sorry to inform you that some people are spreading confusion about the vaccine. The letter further read, ‘We are deeply saddened to see the increasing number of violent attacks on doctors and health care professionals amid the pandemic. Our young doctor has been brutally attacked in Assam, women doctors have been attacked, even many senior doctors have been attacked in the country. Due to this, mental stress is increasing among the practitioners.
