The commission had made a request – take a plan B
New Delhi (EMS). Manage oxygen, because by April 20, the number of daily infections will be three lakhs and by the end of April it will be five lakhs. This was stated 10 days ago by NITI Aayog member Dr VK Paul, who heads the Group of High Powered Officers (part of NITI Aayog). Dr. Pal had also warned before the officials of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare that the form of Kovid is going to be more severe and the country will need more medical grade oxygen. He said that the number of daily infections can go up to six lakhs. In such an extraordinary situation, extraordinary measures will have to be taken under Plan B. During a meeting, it was said that the worse situation due to Kovid and the demand for oxygen created due to it should be reported to another highly empowered group (Group-2). This group is responsible for arranging oxygen and medical equipment. It is headed by Dr. Guruprasad Mahapatra, Secretary, Department of Industrial Development. Sources say that it was at the meeting of the group of officers held in the first fortnight of April that Dr. Paul requested the government to investigate Plan B as well. What is Plan B? Could not find it. The Health Ministry statement, later released to state governments, called for stricter management of Kovid. The state governments have been asked to take strict measures to control the situation and cautioned that the existing structure may be inadequate in dealing with this huge wave of Kovid.
