At the reception party held at a temple in Jalandhar, the police arrested the groom and his father for gathering more than 100 people. The groom and his father were detained by the police from the reception party, while many guests fled on seeing the police.
Jalandhar deputy commissioner said that the arrest was made for violating curfew rules at the reception party. He said that no permission was taken from the administration for the reception party. According to the orders of the Punjab government, no more than 20 people can gather in any wedding ceremony. A case has been registered against the groom and his father under Section 188 for violating the order.
However, the groom said in interrogation to the police that he too does not know from where so many people came to the reception party. Police said the groom said that he did not know where such a large number of people had come from. Due to the increasing cases of Corona, the Punjab government has tightened the rules last week. Apart from this, the time of night curfew has also been increased by one hour. Not only this, cinema halls, gyms, spas, coaching centers and sports complexes have also been closed till 30 April. More than 20 people are not allowed to attend from the wedding to the funeral. Not only this, the permission of the district administration will be required for the mobilization of more than 10 people in any other program except the last rites.
