Srinagar . After the removal of Article 370, the ban on 4G internet in Jammu and Kashmir has been lifted. This ban was imposed 18 months ago. 4G Internet was banned after the removal of Article 370 giving special status to Jammu and Kashmir on 5 August 2019. It was considered the world’s largest Internet shutdown. Jammu and Kashmir administration spokesman Rohit Kansal said that Internet service is being restored throughout Jammu and Kashmir.
It was said at the time of the ban on 4G internet that it has been banned due to the fear of any kind of protest against the abolition of special status of Jammu and Kashmir. After the removal of Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir was divided into two parts. Two union territories Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were created. Then several big leaders including three former Chief Ministers Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti were taken into custody.
