The budget session of Lok Sabha is going to start from 29 January. Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla said that the House would convene a meeting like the monsoon session to ensure social distancing among the members of Parliament. Apart from this, the question hour of one hour is being resumed. The question hour was canceled in the September session. All necessary security arrangements will be made during the budget session in view of the corona epidemic.
The Union Budget will be presented on 1 February during the Parliament session. The budget session will be held in two phases, the first phase commencing with President Ram Nath Kovind’s address on 29 January and ending on 15 February. The second phase will be held from March 8 to April 8. He said that during the Parliament session a pre-scheduled one-hour question hour will be allowed. Significantly, the opposition government had last year alleged that in order to avoid sharp questions related to the Corona epidemic, China and the troubled economy, the Central Government has quashed the question period, the Central Government has denied these allegations.
The Lok Sabha speaker said that the time period of the House will be the same as in the previous Parliament session. The Rajya Sabha will sit from 9 am to 2 pm and the Lok Sabha from 4 pm to 9 pm. He said that all the MPs would be requested to conduct a Covid-19 inquiry before the Parliament session begins.
