Madhya Pradesh, home to the largest tiger population in India, is facing growing concern over a sharp rise in tiger deaths. As of July 19, 2026, a total of 111 tiger deaths had been reported nationwide, with 40 cases recorded in Madhya Pradesh alone—the highest among all states. Several incidents occurred outside protected tiger reserves, highlighting challenges in wildlife conservation and habitat management. Experts attribute the deaths to territorial conflicts, natural causes, poaching, and accidental incidents.
