New Delhi: The All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists has announced a nationwide one-day strike on May 20. According to the organization, the growing sale of medicines at heavy discounts by e-pharmacy companies is adversely affecting the business of traditional medical stores.
The association has also alleged that medicines are being sold without proper verification and on the basis of fake prescriptions. Expressing concern over the easy availability of antibiotics and narcotic drugs through online platforms, the organization has demanded the withdrawal of notifications related to e-pharmacies.
The group warned that if their demands are not addressed, a larger protest movement could be launched in the coming days. The impact of the strike is expected to be visible in several cities, including Bhopal.
