PM Modi Visits Indonesia, Focus on Defence and Strategic Partnership

Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed on Monday for an official visit to Indonesia, where he is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening cooperation in defence, maritime security, trade, investment, digital collaboration, and strategic engagement across the Indo-Pacific region.

A key highlight of the visit is likely to be the proposed ₹2,500 crore deal for BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, which could receive mutual approval during the meetings. Several other important agreements are also expected to be signed, further expanding cooperation between the two countries.

During his visit, Prime Minister Modi will also pay respects at the renowned Prambanan Hindu Temple, a landmark that symbolizes the deep cultural ties shared by India and Indonesia.

This marks Mr. Modi’s third visit to Indonesia. His previous visits in 2018 and 2023 played a significant role in advancing bilateral cooperation in defence, trade, connectivity, and regional security. Experts believe this visit will provide fresh momentum to the growing strategic partnership between the two nations.
