Mumbai: In the Indian Premier League (IPL), young cricketers have challenged several conventional beliefs this season. Emerging bowlers such as Anshul Kamboj, Prince Yadav, and Vijaykumar have demonstrated how bowling from around the wicket can effectively build pressure on batsmen.
Traditionally, it is believed that right-handed batsmen are best approached with over-the-wicket deliveries. However, during this season, especially in the death overs, switching to a round-the-wicket angle has evolved into a key tactical approach. This method allows bowlers to create a challenging angle that restricts the batsman’s shot-making options.
Even if a batsman attempts to move towards the off-stump, the bowler retains the advantage of swinging the ball further away or using cutters to induce a dismissal. Kamboj, Prince, and Vijaykumar have utilized this technique with remarkable efficiency. Their precise yorkers delivered from around the wicket have left batsmen with virtually no opportunity to respond effectively.
