The Bombay High Court has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the functioning of the Municipal Corporation regarding Mumbai’s deteriorating roads and growing road safety concerns. During the hearing, the court questioned whether it would take another 20 years to make all the city’s roads safe and properly maintained. It observed that damaged roads are not merely an inconvenience but a serious threat to public safety. The court also highlighted that the problem of potholes worsens during the monsoon season, significantly increasing the risk of road accidents. The High Court has directed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to submit a detailed response along with a comprehensive and practical roadmap for improving the city’s road infrastructure.
