Citing security and public order, the Delhi Police and the Ministry of Home Affairs have removed (denotified) the historic Jantar Mantar from the list of approved protest sites. With Section 163 in force there, any protests will face a complete ban. Based on recommendations from a committee constituted by the Home Ministry, three alternative locations have been designated for demonstrations—Ramlila Maidan, Burari Maidan, and the CBD Ground in East Delhi. Separate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) will be issued for protests at these new sites.
