Chennai. The Tamil Nadu government has announced the ‘Annapoorani Super 6’ scheme to provide financial relief to women and economically weaker households. Under the initiative, eligible women-headed families will receive three free LPG cylinders every year. The scheme is expected to begin around Pongal, with the government allocating nearly ₹4,000 crore annually for its implementation. Families with an annual income of up to ₹2.5 lakh will qualify. Vulnerable communities, small farmers and families of persons with disabilities will also be covered. The government has additionally announced expanded free bus travel for women and transgender passengers across the state.
