Persistent monsoon rainfall has severely disrupted normal life across Uttarakhand, forcing the closure of nearly 120 roads and affecting transportation in several regions. A section of the under-construction Lakhwar Multipurpose Dam project collapsed onto the Delhi–Yamunotri Highway, damaging vehicles and construction equipment, though no injuries were reported. In Dehradun’s Prem Nagar area, a temporary bridge over the Tons River was washed away by strong currents, causing major traffic disruptions for several hours. The weather department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in six districts, including Dehradun, and authorities have advised residents to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel.
