Defense cooperation between India and Singapore has gained fresh momentum with the deployment of an Indian Navy P-8I maritime surveillance aircraft at Singapore’s Paya Lebar Air Base. The move is expected to significantly enhance India’s monitoring capabilities over the Malacca Strait, one of the world’s most strategically important sea routes and a vital maritime corridor for China.
In addition, the navies of both countries conducted an expert-level exchange program focused on maritime surveillance and operational cooperation. During a recent meeting, senior defense officials from India and Singapore also agreed to further strengthen joint military exercises, expand defense collaboration, and improve bilateral coordination to enhance regional security and strategic partnership.
