To overcome the hurdles in the ongoing war against Corona and to find new solutions, Indian Railways is working to provide relief to people by transporting liquid medical oxygen (LMO) to various states across the country. Indian Railways has so far delivered more than 9440 MT liquid medical oxygen through 590 tankers to various states of the country. So far, 150 Oxygen Express trains have completed their journey and this has brought great relief to many states of the country. 12 Oxygen Express trains carrying 970 metric tons of medical oxygen in 55 tankers are traveling their way. South Indian states such as Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have received major relief in terms of oxygen supply, as many Oxygen Express trains have supplied liquid medical oxygen in large quantities in these states yesterday and today.
The Delhi-NCR region has surpassed the delivery of more than 5000 metric tons of oxygen. It is further disbursed to the concerned hospitals / institutes etc.
Oxygen Express trains have been transporting nearly 800 metric tonnes of liquid medical oxygen to various states / union territories of the country every day for the past few days. Indian Railways is endeavoring to provide maximum liquid medical oxygen to the requesting states in the shortest possible time. The first Oxygen Express train has arrived at Ernakulam in Kerala carrying 118 metric tonnes of liquid medical oxygen. 521 MT to Maharashtra by Oxygen Express train, about 2525 MT to Uttar Pradesh, 430 MT to Madhya Pradesh, 1228 MT to Haryana, 389 MT to Telangana, 40 MT to Rajasthan, 361 MT to Karnataka, Uttarakhand 200 MT, Kerala 118 MT, Tamil Nadu 151 MT, Andhra Pradesh 116 MT and Delhi more than 3320 MT liquid liquid oxygen. The operation of the new Oxygen Express train is quite a dynamic task, and figures in this regard are also constantly changing. This is the reason why some other oxygen trains carrying oxygen tankers are expected to start the journey till late tonight.
