(New Delhi) The IED blast occurred near the Israeli embassy in Delhi. There is no report of any injuries in the blast which took place at around 5:00 meters on Friday evening, about 150 meters from the embassy building. However, the glass of three vehicles broke at the scene. After the blast, security agencies reached the spot and took control. Chemical is recovered in a bottle from the blast site. The forensic team has started investigating the recovered chemical. Teams from NIA, ATS, FSL and Special Cell have reached the spot after the blast. The surrounding area has been sealed by security agencies. Special Cell of Delhi Police has started investigation of the blast.
Preliminary analysis of the CCTV footage revealed that a car driver had thrown the bomb in a packet at the blast site. The identity of the owner is being ascertained based on the number of the car. The entire area has been converted into a cantonment. Meanwhile, Israel’s State Department has called the blast a terrorist attack. Earlier, the State Department issued a statement saying that we are working together with India. Bilateral relations between the two countries have further strengthened over the years. After the blast, India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held discussions with the Israeli Foreign Minister. Jaishankar has assured them of safety. It is noteworthy that earlier in February 2012, a car of the Israeli Embassy was targeted.
