Statements of six more minor children in child sexual abuse case recorded in court

On Wednesday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials in the child sexual abuse case recorded the statements of six more minor children in the court. The CBI had earlier recorded statements of 17 victims in the court. So far, the total number of children who have recorded statements has been 23. Now more children’s statements can be recorded. Manoj Dixit, Assistant Government Advocate (ADGC) in the Poxo court, said that CBI Deputy Superintendent (CO) and case investigation officer Amit Kumar along with other officials brought the six minor children victimized in a very secretive manner to the court and Civil Judge (Junior Division) ) Present the differently-abled children in Anuja Singh’s court and record the statement under section 164 of the CrPC. He said that the CBI had recorded the statements of 10 children on 25 January. So far, the total number of minor children who have recorded statements has gone up to 23. He said that statements of more identified children can be recorded now.
Dixit said that Kumar had arrested Durgavati, wife of Junior Engineer (JE) Rambhavan (suspended) of Banda’s Jail Irrigation Department, on 28 December 2020 from his Naraini town house in connection with child sexual exploitation. He told that since then his wife is also in jail. He said that Durgavati was earlier charged under Section 17 of the Poxo Act (concealing child sexual offenses, helping) and Section -120B (involvement in criminal conspiracy) of the IPC, but now 4, 6, 8, of sexual offenses. 10 and 12 streams have also been increased. He said that 24 and 29 new sections of sexual offenses have been added against JE, in which there is a provision of life imprisonment or even death penalty.
ADGC Dixit said that Durgavati, the wife of accused JE Rambhavan, had filed a bail application through advocate on January 12 in the court of Additional District and Sessions Court (Poxo) Mohammad Rizwan Ahmed, which will now be heard on January 29. He said that the arrested couple has judicial custody till February 2.
