Supreme Court Bar Council (SCBA) President Dushyant Dave resigned on Thursday with immediate effect, saying that he had lost the right to continue in the post. Bar Council acting secretary Rohit Pandey has confirmed the resignation of senior advocate Dave. Dave wrote in the letter that his term in the SCBA Executive Committee is already over and due to “concerns from some lawyers”, it is not possible to conduct a digital election on schedule. The letter stated, “After the recent developments, I feel that I have lost the right to be your leader. Therefore, I am resigning from the post of Chairman of SCBA with immediate effect. Our term is already over. ” Dave said, “We had taken a sincere decision to hold elections through digital medium for the election of the new body. But I think due to the objections of some of you, it is not possible to hold elections on time as determined by the Election Committee. I understand his position and have no objection to it. But in such circumstances it would be morally wrong for me to continue as president. Dave also expressed his gratitude to all the members of SCBA.
