Kathmandu: In a significant electoral outcome from Nepal’s capital, Ranju Darshana, the candidate of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has secured victory in the important parliamentary constituency of Kathmandu Electoral Area–1. This is considered the party’s first win from the constituency, providing the RSP with a notable political boost.

According to the final vote count, Ranju Darshana received a total of 15,455 votes. She defeated her closest rival, Prabal Thapa Kshetri, the candidate from the Nepali Congress (NC), by a substantial margin. Kshetri secured 6,364 votes. Meanwhile, Ravindra Mishra, the candidate of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), finished in third place with 3,972 votes.

Following the announcement of the results, an atmosphere of celebration was seen among RSP supporters. Party leaders stated that winning a key constituency like Kathmandu-1 reflects the party’s growing popularity. However, the Returning Officer’s Office for the constituency has yet to make the formal declaration of the result. Despite this, based on the final vote count figures, Ranju Darshana’s victory is widely considered almost certain.

According to political analysts, the result could signal new political dynamics in Nepal, as the RSP appears to be rapidly strengthening its presence in the country’s political landscape.
