Kathmandu: To ensure the peaceful and fair conduct of the parliamentary elections scheduled in neighboring Nepal on March 5, the security agencies of India and Nepal have stepped up preparedness. With the aim of strengthening security arrangements, officials from both countries have agreed to completely close international border checkpoints for 72 hours prior to polling. This decision was taken during the 16th Deputy Inspector General–level coordination meeting between Nepal’s Armed Police Force (APF) and India’s Sashastra Seema Bal, held in Biratnagar of Morang district. The primary objective of this strategic meeting was to prevent any untoward incidents and curb the infiltration of anti-social elements during the election period.
