– Ministry proposes introducing a graded licensing system for heavy and large vehicles
New Delhi:
To curb the growing number of uninsured vehicles on roads across the country and to address unsafe driving practices, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has proposed significant amendments to the Motor Vehicles Act. Under the proposed changes, enforcement agencies will be empowered to seize vehicles that are being operated without valid insurance. In addition, a provision is being introduced to prohibit the issuance of a new driving license to individuals whose licenses have been cancelled within the past three years.
