UP girl killed over family dispute by cousin, accused shot & arrested

Etawah: A 16-year-old girl was hacked to death with an axe here, reportedly by her cousin following a family quarrel, authorities said on Friday. On Thursday, an incident occurred in Muraitha village, near Ikdil police station. Pallavi was the name of the adolescent who died. Pallavi was aiding her mother in cooking supper at 9 p.m. on Thursday when her cousin Neelu (22), who lived nearby, assaulted her with an axe over an ongoing quarrel with her father, Raghuraj, who was not there at the time, according to Circle Officer Abhay Narayan Rai. Neelu ran away after committing the crime. After getting information about the event, Station House Officer Vikram Singh Chauhan and a forensic team arrived at the scene, according to police. Neelu was at odds with Raghuraj for a week. He had already filed a complaint against his uncle, they added. According to authorities, the body has been submitted for a post-mortem and attempts are on to arrest the suspects.
