New Delhi: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut questioned the trade deal signed with the United States, alleging that under this agreement, America has effectively “bought” India. He also accused Union ministers of misleading the public, claiming that people within the government are being blackmailed. On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a reduction in tariffs imposed on India to 18 percent.
According to media reports, Raut said on Wednesday that all Union ministers, including Piyush Goyal, are lying. He alleged that the trade deal with President Trump has virtually placed the country at America’s feet, asserting that India has been sold. “They call it a major victory. What kind of victory is this?” he asked, criticizing calls to celebrate across the nation. He added that India continues to bear heavy tariff burdens even today.
