New Delhi: Tension flared at Jantar Mantar on Monday morning as protesters gathered for a planned march toward Parliament. Police stopped the crowd from moving ahead after stating that the demonstration lacked official permission and had already placed barricades in the area. According to media reports, some participants attempted to cross the barricades, prompting police to use mild baton charges to disperse the gathering and restore order. Additional security personnel were deployed as a precaution. Protest organizers maintained that the demonstration was peaceful and defended their right to protest, while police said the measures were necessary to maintain public safety and law and order.
