Sword Hanging Over Abhishek, Tilak and Rinku

Ahmedabad: Indian cricket team assistant coaches Ten Doishe and Sitanshu have indicated that the squad will be reassessed ahead of the upcoming Super-8 matches, and changes are likely to be made. In this context, the places of Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, and Rinku Singh appear to be under serious threat. It is almost certain that at least one of the three will be dropped from the playing XI. All three have struggled to make an impact in the tournament so far.

The team management is also expected to reconsider its strategy regarding the inclusion of more left-handed batters in the top order. Following India’s defeat to South Africa in their opening encounter, it has become imperative for the side to secure convincing victories in the remaining two matches. Consequently, the management cannot afford to persist with players who are out of form.

So far, Abhishek has scored just 15 runs in four matches, while Tilak Varma has managed 107 runs in five games. Additionally, Rinku Singh has failed to deliver in his role as a finisher, scoring only 24 runs off 29 balls at a strike rate of 82.75.
