New Delhi. The Election Commission has stepped up preparations for the Assembly elections scheduled to be held later this year in five states, including West Bengal. According to sources, the Commission, under the leadership of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, is expected to begin visits to the concerned states soon. The objective of these visits is to conduct on-ground assessments of law and order, administrative readiness, and other essential arrangements before formally announcing the election schedule. It is believed that the official declaration of the election dates could take place at any time after the first week of March.
