Police in Ballia district achieved a major breakthrough during an ongoing campaign against criminal activities. Late Friday night, an encounter took place between the police and a group of criminals near Barka Pokhara in the Bansdih area. During the exchange of fire, a wanted criminal identified as Vishal Rajbhar, also known as Achhe Rajbhar, who carried a reward of ₹25,000 on his arrest, sustained a bullet injury to his leg.
According to police officials, a late-night checking operation was underway in the Hussainabad area, where officers were inspecting vehicles and verifying suspicious individuals. During the operation, a group of youths riding motorcycles approached the checkpoint. On noticing the police presence, the suspects attempted to flee and allegedly opened fire at the officers. In response, the police retaliated and successfully apprehended the accused.
Along with the injured criminal, four of his associates were also arrested from the spot. The police have initiated further legal proceedings in the matter.
