Marriage of Pakistani Army Chief Munir’s Daughter: Nephew Becomes Son-in-Law

Islamabad: The third daughter of Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Asim Munir, Mahnoor, has been married to his nephew, Abdul Rehman, the son of General Munir’s real brother. According to family sources, the marriage ceremony took place at the residence of General Munir’s brother, Qasim Munir, where Mahnoor began a new chapter of her life with her cousin.

In Pakistan’s social context, marriages between paternal or maternal cousins are fairly common and are often viewed as a way to strengthen family ties and keep property and assets within the extended family.
