New Delhi: Indian passengers travelling abroad will soon have a more convenient immigration process. From September 1, immigration authorities at airports will stop stamping printed boarding passes. Instead, travellers will be required to present their electronic boarding passes on their smartphones. The Bureau of Immigration, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, has instructed airport authorities to implement the new system. Officials say the digital process will save time and eliminate the need to carry and preserve paper boarding passes. It will also prevent boarding pass details from becoming unclear due to stamping. Passengers may still carry printed copies, but no stamp will be placed on them.
