Union Minister for Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, announced that tech giant Google has pledged an investment of $15 billion to set up an Artificial Intelligence (AI) hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to the media after the official pre-summit event “Bharat AI Shakti” of the upcoming India AI Impact Summit 2026, the minister said,
“India has carved out a unique and prominent position for itself in the global IT sector. In this era of artificial intelligence, it is crucial that India sustains this reputation and strength. For that, AI infrastructure must take root within the country. The digital infrastructure should grow here in India.”
