Farmers and Workers Take to the Streets: Nationwide Strike Called Today Against India–US Trade Deal and New Laws

Big News

New Delhi: The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), along with the country’s leading central trade unions, has called for a nationwide strike (Bharat Bandh) today, February 12, in protest against the central government’s economic policies, newly introduced labor laws, and the recent interim trade agreement between India and the United States.

The protest has also received full support from agricultural labor unions and the NREGA Sangharsh Morcha. Demonstrators are primarily opposing legislative measures such as the New Labour Code, the Electricity Bill 2025, and the Seed Bill 2025, which farmer and worker organizations have described as anti-people and detrimental to public interests.
