Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to Attend 12th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting, Departs for Malaysia

New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to participate in the 12th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM), scheduled to be held on November 1 in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. Before departing, Rajnath Singh shared details of his visit on the social media platform ‘X,’ stating that he will represent India at this year’s ADMM-Plus meeting.

In a post on social media, Singh wrote, “I will address the forum on the theme ‘15 Years of ADMM-Plus — Reflection and the Way Forward’, being held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.” He further informed that under Malaysia’s chairmanship, the second informal meeting of ASEAN-India Defence Ministers will also take place on October 31, with the participation of defence ministers from all ASEAN member countries.

The primary objective of this meeting is to strengthen defence and security cooperation between India and ASEAN nations and to further advance India’s ‘Act East Policy.’ During his two-day visit, Rajnath Singh is also scheduled to hold several bilateral meetings, where discussions will focus on strategic and security-related issues with defence ministers of ADMM-Plus countries and senior leadership of Malaysia.
