China is planning to construct the world’s largest dam on the Brahmaputra River in a move seen as an attempt to assert dominance and advance its strategic and commercial interests over neighboring countries. Through this project, Beijing aims to leverage the river’s flow to expand its trade influence across the region.
In response, India has decided to counter China’s move by unveiling a massive ₹6.4 lakh crore hydropower initiative on the same river. The Indian government’s decision reflects a well-thought-out strategic plan designed to not only balance China’s growing influence but also deliver long-term benefits to several Indian states in the years ahead.
