New Delhi: In the Union Budget presented on Sunday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced several significant measures aimed at accelerating the development of Delhi–NCR. The budget places strong emphasis on strengthening security, education, and healthcare services in the national capital, while also making major provisions to enhance connectivity and promote industrial growth across NCR cities.

The healthcare sector in Delhi has been accorded special priority. For the first time, five major central government hospitals—including AIIMS—have collectively been allocated a budget exceeding ₹10,000 crore. Of this, AIIMS alone has received nearly ₹5,500 crore, marking an increase of ₹300 crore compared to the previous year. The additional funds will be utilized to expand infrastructure and introduce advanced medical facilities at the institute.

In the education sector, the budgets of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and the School of Planning and Architecture have also been increased by ₹10 crore each over last year’s allocations.
