Russian National Arrested; Bodies Recovered from Different Areas

Panaji: A sensational case involving the murder of two Russian women has come to light in Goa, triggering widespread shock across the state. The bodies of the two women were recovered on Friday from separate locations. Police have arrested a 37-year-old Russian national, Alexey Leonov, in connection with the double murder.

According to the police, the deceased have been identified as Elena Kastanova (37) and Elina Vaniva (37). The investigation has revealed that both women were killed following an identical pattern. Their throats were slit with a knife, and their hands were tied behind their backs with a rope, indicating the extreme brutality of the crime.

The case came to light when the body of Elena Kastanova was recovered on Thursday night from a rented house in the Arambol area. As per the complaint filed by the landlady, the incident occurred sometime after 11 p.m. Kastanova was the live-in partner of the accused, Alexey Leonov, and the two had been living together in the same house for about a month.
