Amid the controversy surrounding the NEET-UG 2026 examination and widespread protests across the country, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a message shared on X, he said the recent developments had caused him deep distress. He emphasized that his priority was to protect students’ futures and preserve national unity. Pradhan noted that the government promptly handed the investigation to the CBI, cancelled the examination, conducted a fresh test, and decided to introduce computer-based testing (CBT) for future exams. He added that he did not want anti-national elements to exploit the situation or students to suffer prolonged legal uncertainty, while expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister, colleagues, and ministry officials.
