Supreme Court Declines to Alter Ethanol Allocation Policy for 2025–26

Big News

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has refused to make any changes to the ethanol allocation policy for the 2025–26 period. During the hearing, the Central Government clarified that its policy of blending 20% ethanol with petrol (E20) will continue without any modification.

The case was filed by an ethanol manufacturing company that challenged the lower allocation it received. The company argued that despite having a higher production capacity, it was granted a smaller supply order than expected. In response, the government maintained that accommodating the request of a single company could disrupt the overall allocation framework. For now, the Supreme Court has decided to uphold the existing ethanol allocation policy.
