According to data from the World Health Organization, more than 18 million cases of Kovid-19 have occurred in India and more than 204,000 people have lost their lives. The WHO said in a press release that due to the rampant case of Kovid-19 in India, it should be a top priority to meet the shortage in essential medical supplies and hospital capacities. The WHO is sending planes with 4,000 oxygen concentrators to meet the increasing demand.
Dr. Poonam Khetarpal Singh, Regional Director of South East Asia Region of WHO said, “The increase in cases of Kovid-19 has put a lot of pressure on the health system which is already under immense pressure since the onset of the epidemic. We need to work fast, increase the capacities of hospitals and provide medical supplies which is necessary to save the lives of the people. At the same time, the United States hopes that the huge Kovid-19 assistance given to India will have a catalytic effect in society and around the world. State Department spokesman Ned Price told reporters that the United States is supplying more than $ 100 million of essential medical supplies to India in the coming days. The first aircraft carrying relief supplies departed from the US Air Force base in California on Wednesday. “We hope that helping the Indian people will have a catalytic effect in society and around the world,” Price said at a regular press conference. He said, “American government aircraft will start arriving in India tonight and will continue to fly till next week.” In the beginning of the epidemic, when our hospitals were in need, India helped America, in the same way, America is committed to help India in times of need.
