India’s celebrated weightlifter and Olympic medalist, Mirabai Chanu, is intensifying her preparations for the upcoming Commonwealth Games. The competition is scheduled to begin on July 23 in Glasgow, where she will compete in her preferred 48kg category and is widely regarded as one of the leading contenders for the gold medal.
Chanu recently showcased impressive form at the national championships, securing the title with a combined lift of 205kg. Following the Commonwealth Games, her focus will shift to the Asian Games, where she may be required to compete in the 53kg weight category.
The Asian Games hold particular significance for Chanu, as she has yet to win a medal at the event. With her strong recent performances and continued dedication, she will be aiming not only to add another Commonwealth Games gold to her achievements but also to make a breakthrough on the Asian Games stage.
