India strongly criticized Pakistan during a discussion at the United Nations Security Council concerning the rising violence in Afghanistan and the protection of civilians. Speaking at the Council’s open debate, India’s Permanent Representative, Harish Parvathaneni stated that the global community is fully aware of the track record of nations that promote terrorism and violence. Without directly naming Pakistan, he questioned the policies of such countries and remarked that nations with a controversial past should reflect on their own record before speaking about human rights and peace.
India emphasized that ensuring the safety of civilians during conflicts is essential for maintaining international peace and stability. Reaffirming India’s commitment to the principles of the United Nations Charter, the Indian representative stated that adopting a zero-tolerance approach against terrorism and the killing of innocent civilians is the need of the hour.
