New Delhi. Union Minister Prakash Javadekar issued a standard operating procedure on the preventive measures needed to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in cinema halls and theaters. Announcing the decision, Minister Javadekar said that now cinema halls can function with full potential. He said that cleanliness and covid protocol have to be followed, but people can buy food items from the stalls inside the theaters. The restrictions imposed by Kovid are on the verge of ending. Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India vide Order No. 40-3 / 2020 DM-I (A) dated 27th January, 2021 has given permission to open cinema hall and theater. It is against this background that SOP has been issued.
The SOP states at the outset that film screenings will not be allowed in the controlled zones (CONTAINMENT ZONE) and the States / UTs may propose additional measures based on their regional assessment. The SOP permits the use of 100 percent seating capacity inside the cinema hall. The SOP clarifies that all safety measures related to Kovid must be followed inside the premises. General guidelines state that respiratory etiquette should be followed, including the use of face masks and always maintaining a minimum distance of 6 feet from each other in common areas and waiting areas, outside the auditorium, spitting will be prohibited and Use of the Arogya Setu App will be encouraged.
