New Delhi / Jaipur. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has given a big relief to the people from the rising prices of petrol and diesel by reducing the rate of VAT on petrol and diesel by 2 percent. The Finance Department has issued orders in this regard. This order will be effective from 12 January 28. The Chief Minister has taken this important decision in the interest of the common man, despite the economic activity affected due to the Kovid-19 epidemic and the decrease in revenue. This will provide relief to the public as well as transport, infrastructure, real estate and other businesses. With the reduction in VAT rates, the state government will reduce the revenue by an estimated one thousand crore rupees every year. CM Gehlot said that despite the price of crude oil being at the lowest level for a long time at the international level, due to the price of petrol and diesel at the highest level, inflation is increasing and the common man is facing economic difficulties. The Chief Minister has said that the Government of India is currently charging an excise duty of 32 rupees 98 paise per liter on petrol and 31 rupees 83 paise per liter on diesel, which is excessive. The Chief Minister said that the basic excise duty paid by the Government of India is part of the divisible pool paid to the states. Which has been reduced continuously from Rs. 9.48 to Rs. 2.98 on petrol and Rs. 11.33 to Rs. 4.83 on diesel. Due to which all the states including Rajasthan are losing huge revenue. Gehlot said that the Government of India has been continuously increasing the additional excise duty from Rs 8 to Rs 18 per liter on petrol and diesel and special excise duty to be increased from Rs 7 to Rs 12 on petrol and from zero to Rs 9 per liter on diesel. Already happened. Due to this policy of the Government of India, the states are not getting its benefits. At the same time, the common people have to bear the brunt of expensive petrol and diesel. He said that following the initiative taken by the state government, the central government should also give relief to the people by reducing central taxes on petrol and diesel.
