During the parade, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Foreign Minister S.K. Most ministers of the Modi government, including Jaishankar, were present. The parade began with a 21-gun salute to the tune of the national anthem after President Kovind hoisted the tricolor at around 10 am. Today’s parade commander was Lt. General Vijay Kumar Mishra. A marching squad of 122 Bangladesh Armed Forces took part in the parade. The Bangladesh contingent was led by Commander Lieutenant Colonel Abu Mohammad Shahnoor. This year marks fifty years of diplomatic relations between India and Bangladesh. The highlight of the parade at Rajpath was the amazing feat of the Rafale aircraft from France recently and the display of the power of the air force in the sky. Dressed in a traditional kurta pajama and jacket, the Prime Minister reached the National Summer Memorial at India Gate and paid tribute to the brave martyrs of the country. On this occasion, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat and heads of the three armies were also present. The Prime Minister laid a wreath at the martyrs’ memorial and observed a two-minute silence in his honor.

The Rafale aircraft also produced the Brahmastra figure. Sukhoi 30 MKI, MiG 29, C17 Globemaster, C 130 J aircraft also participated in the parade.

After the Republic Day parade ended, Prime Minister Modi greeted the audience and walked a short distance. In the national capital Delhi, a multi-level security system was put in place in view of the Republic Day celebrations, under which thousands of armed personnel were under strict surveillance.
