The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is making changes in the affiliation system of schools. This process is being completely digital and based on data analysis with minimal human intervention. The new system will be effective from March 1. This is being changed to suit the various recommendations made for systemic reforms laid down in the new National Education Policy (NEP). CBSE Secretary Anurag Tripathi said, “The Board is working on making changes in the affiliation system and process as per the recommendations made in NEP on education reforms.”
Although the CBSE (Se schools) affiliation system has been online since 2006, the revised system will be completely digital and will be based on data analysis with minimal human intervention. Anurag Tripathi said, these changes will facilitate the functioning of the CBSE affiliation system, the minimum government will be automated, in line with the goal of maximum governance and decisions will be taken based on the data in it. This will bring transparency, greater accountability in the entire systemic process and speedy and timely disposal of all applications. Tripathi said that the board would soon issue a detailed guideline on the new system. The board has also revised the deadline for the application process as per the new system. Three periods will be made available every year to upgrade the new affiliation and affiliation according to the revised deadline. 1 March to 31 March, 1 June to 30 June and 1 September to 30 September. Tripathi said that applications for extending affiliation will be accepted every year from March 1 to May 31. Significantly, there are 24,930 CBSE affiliated schools across the country and abroad, which have more than two crore students and more than 1 million teachers. The Affiliation Rules were created in 1998.
