The Prime Minister has also urged all government departments to adopt cost-cutting measures.

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing crisis in West Asia, global crude oil supplies have been affected, and the impact is gradually being felt in India as well. In a recent address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to citizens to conserve fuel and avoid purchasing gold for the next year. Continuing in the same direction, he has now decided to significantly reduce the size of his official convoy, aiming to encourage ministers and government officials to follow similar practices.

According to sources, Prime Minister Modi has instructed the Special Protection Group (SPG), responsible for his security, to cut the number of vehicles in his convoy by nearly 50 percent. He has also advised the SPG to include electric vehicles in the convoy wherever possible, while minimizing the purchase of new vehicles. Reports suggest that the SPG has already begun implementing these directives.

Following the Prime Minister’s recent speech in Hyderabad, the number of vehicles accompanying his convoy during visits to Gujarat and Assam was reportedly reduced. However, officials are ensuring that all mandatory security protocols outlined in the “Blue Book” remain fully intact.

Sources further indicate that several ministries and government departments may soon introduce expenditure-control measures. These could include encouraging employees to use metro services more frequently, promoting carpooling, and limiting large-scale official events in order to reduce overall costs.
