New Delhi: Political activity surrounding women’s reservation has intensified. While the central government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, attempted to corner the opposition by introducing a new Women’s Reservation Bill, the Congress party has now made a strategic counter-move. The party has decided to write to the Prime Minister, urging the implementation of the earlier version of the Women’s Reservation Bill.
To formulate a future strategy on this issue, key leaders of the opposition alliance convened an important meeting on Saturday. The meeting was attended by prominent figures, including senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, along with other major alliance members. The primary focus of the discussion was to challenge the government and push for the implementation of women’s reservation without any additional conditions.
According to sources, opposition leaders unanimously agreed to send a letter to the Prime Minister, demanding the immediate enforcement of the earlier provisions related to women’s reservation. The opposition has directly accused the government of attempting to manipulate the country’s political balance in its favor by linking the bill with measures such as delimitation.
