Washington: U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated on Friday that Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has been injured, and the country’s military leadership is struggling amid ongoing American strikes.

Hegseth argued that the attacks have significantly weakened Iran’s armed forces and disrupted the country’s military command structure. He said the regime’s military capabilities are collapsing, adding that they are barely able to communicate, let alone coordinate their operations effectively.

According to Hegseth, Iranian leaders have gone underground and are attempting to avoid further strikes. He also claimed that many of them are taking shelter in bunkers and moving into civilian areas for protection.

The Pentagon has repeatedly stated that the objective of this military campaign is to destroy Iran’s missile capabilities, weaken its naval power, and prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
